Mikel Arteta’s job is most at-risk of any Premier League head coach, according to a social media study looking at which managers are having their heads called for by fans.
The research from OnlineBasketballBetting.net looks at over 1,700 tweets from the last two months using common hashtags to portray dissatisfaction with a manager, finding the Arsenal boss to be least popular – 320 tweets contained #ArtetaOut.
In fact, almost one in five tweets about any Premier League manager losing their job are calling for Arteta to go (18.6%).
One Arsenal fan tweeted, “Arteta must go tonight and either Poch or Massimo must come in immediately #ArtetaOut”.
A surprising second to Arteta was Frank Lampard (213 tweets containing #LampardOut), with Chelsea fans seemingly unhappy with their manager, despite their strong start to the season. And the Blues boss is even more unpopular than Ole Gunnar Solskjær (197 tweets containing #OleOut).
At the other end of the table, Southampton fans are sticking by their manager thanks to their surprise success story so far this season, with just seven tweets including #RalphOut over the last two months.
Despite their poor start to the season – with only one win in their opening 10 games and sitting in 18th in the Premier League table – as few as 12 Burnley fans are calling for Sean Dyche to be fired.
Although Tottenham Hotspur currently sit top of the table, having recently beaten Manchester City and Arsenal, Jose Mourinho is still dividing opinion amongst Spurs fans, with 46 tweets containing #JoseOut.
