Privacy Notice

What we handle

• Visit data. Our server and Cloudflare, which sits in front of it, see your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. This keeps the site running and blocks abuse; the logs are rotated routinely and never used to profile anyone.
• A pair of our own cookies, site-wide. mz_vid, a random visitor identifier (one year), plus mz_src, noting whether you came from a search engine, another site or a typed address (thirty days). Together they let us count visits without counting the same reader twice.
• Two more cookies on /go/ links only. mozbiz_session and XSRF-TOKEN keep the hand-off to an operator alive and stop it being triggered by a forged call; they lapse within a day, after about twenty hours.
• What you send us by email or through the forms described below.

Nothing from Google, Meta or any ad network is installed here, and no social plugin either. Details of each cookie are in the cookie policy.

Why

To deliver pages, measure which pages are read, attribute a sign-up to the link that produced it so the operator pays the commission, answer mail and correct pages. We do not sell personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising and have not done so in the past twelve months.

Who else receives it

Hosting and Cloudflare as service providers; fortunida.com for the two forms; and an operator, which learns only that a visitor arrived through our link — what you then tell the operator is governed by its own policy. We disclose information to authorities only where the law requires it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, have it fixed or erased, and object to its use. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and residents of other states with comparable laws under those laws; exercising them costs nothing and changes nothing about how the site works for you. Write from the address you used with us, or describe the visit, so we can match the request. We answer within 45 days and tell you if we need longer.

Children

Nobody under 21 should use the site, and anything we learn came from a minor is deleted.

Changes

A revised notice replaces this one; the “Last updated” line names the revision in force.

The two forms on this site

Apart from the general notice above, this site carries exactly two places where you can type something in: the subscribe box on the front page and the message form on the contact page. Both are served for us by fortunida.com, which acts as our processor: it receives what you submit, passes it to the editorial inbox and is not permitted to use it for anything of its own.

The subscribe box asks for an email address, and for that address alone. The basis is your consent, given by submitting the box; the purpose is to send occasional editorial updates from this site and nothing else; the address is kept until you unsubscribe, which every message carries a one-click link for, and is deleted when you do. The message form asks for your message and a reply address. The basis there is our legitimate interest in answering readers and correcting our own pages; correspondence is kept while the matter is open and for up to twelve months afterwards so that a correction can be traced back to what prompted it.

Neither form asks for a name, a payment detail, an account with any operator, or a date of birth, and neither is a condition of reading anything here. To withdraw consent, to ask what is held, or to have it deleted, write to [email protected] — the same address that answers everything else. Recipients of what you submit are therefore two: this site’s editors and fortunida.com as the processor of the forms.
