Over the years, Texas noted a decrease in attendance, and in 2011, the Texas Racing Act was amended, making online horse betting illegal. Prior to that time, residents were able to use Texas horse betting sites to place wagers on horse races around the country, but this is no longer the case.

Texas Horse Betting Rules

If you visit any of the operational horse tracks in the state, you will legally be able to place wagers on races and enjoy payouts. However, if you are looking to engage in any form of online betting, there are no options in the state. Texas does not offer legal online or off-track betting services. You will find that some betting sites will accept residents from the state, but overall, Texas frowns upon any form of online gambling and wagering.

There are no plans to legalize online Texas horse betting in the near future, so you will not find sites emerging or the offering of any horse betting apps.
